I have a big love for shmups and arcade games. While I'm a member of Restart Syndrome (a great site you should check out), a page on my site is nice since I can add some extra details and more commentary, which isn't really possible or the vibe on RS. I can also list some stuff that wouldn't go on there or is adjacent to arcade accomplishments. You can catch recordings of some of these on my Youtube (I'll link the direct videos some time soon). Feel free to contact me to ask any questions about a particular run/clear!
Such an important game to me. It's what got me into scoring in the first place! Also the game I'm the best at and played most for score, though I could really do with some real practice... Most of my PBs were pretty spur of the moment. At this point I need to do real game wide optimization since I no-missed my last PB. I mostly play Blue Hope as my ship type since I like the close range style it uses. Blue Peace is very obviously the best ship in the game but I think Hope can get pretty far!
Forget when I did this, don't have the score since my hard drive with this game on it died :(
I'll have a fond memory of this run, I did it right before like my final or second exam of a class. It was such a fucking high, I did well on the exam as well lol.
My first true arcade clear iirc? Really like this game, I think people tend to overlook it and treat DDP as a straight upgrade. There's some nuance to that (I also think DDP is kinda flawed, DOJ is much better :/), especially regarding the scoring which I think is neat. Not that I'm there yet, still need to clear the JP 1st loop.
This looks like such a scrub run, lots of bombs for seemingly no reason. It's touched on in the replay description, but the bosses in this game are a fucking bore. I mostly just spammed bomb on early ones to get it over with. I had no clue it had such an impact on score though! I'm still pretty happy with this run, it was largely self routed. I remember trying to brute force my way through stage 4 without save states but I got pummled so often I relented and just started practicing. Arcade shmups dont play around.
Got back into this game since a friend gifted me Drilland on Steam. I recall getting a clear of 2500FT (500M) before but I didn't save anything regarding it. Tricky game especially when going for all Capsules but been enjoying learning it! Will probably have a more thought out blurb here later when I have more thoughts on the game. Also I love the score screens, so fun and full of info.
Not recorded either but I would rather record a No-Miss/Full Air Capsule Chain. Took me longer than I thought, kept making silly mistakes with air capsule chaining. It was funny, this run I slowed down cause a friend was watching and it made me a way better player. Just so much easier when you realize the timer is a little more lax than you think, especially if you think out those air capsule cages.

Fun twin stick robotron clone. Has some fun scoring dynamics I'll write an article on, but doing runs feels a little ass since dying kills momentum hard and chain deaths are difficult to avoid.
Didn't get this one fully recorded :/
Really cool proc gen clone of Rolling Thunder, a game I've been a fan of for years. Took me a while to play this, it's super hard but really rewarding and fun to learn how properly handle situations.
First clear of the year! Got this sooner than I thought, also didn't realize there was a second loop. I thought I had way more to go. Next time I'll record...
First racing game other than Wave Race 64 I've really put time into for getting fast times. Last time I checked I was in the top 5% of times for all tracks and cars! I wouldn't call these good times, since the actual good times are so far away from what I got but I still think what I did shows some skill!
One of the few games I've gotten all achivements for. Usually I wouldn't bother putting that here (I think most achivements blow) but the final and least acquired achivement: Mossy Platinum, does require a decent amount of knowledge and skill to get.
My favorite rhythm game and the one I've put the most time into being good at. While I haven't played in a bit, I'm a 8.5* player and currently working on 9* stars. I have 209/251 clears for the Extreme difficulty and fully cleared Hard.
