Got a lot of audio equipment lately, I can probably finish the page I was working on about my various equipment. I visited this record store liquidation sale recently. Got so many 12" and 45s. The 45s are going to be a task but maybe I'll write about the experience. I know that most people are highly myopic when it comes to the "pop music was better in the past" thing, but have they actually bothered with old pop? Like do any of these people go through 45 sections or even bulk buy. It's such a gamble lmao. One final thing, much of the bad modern jungle (zoomer breaks in general but adnb invalidates talking about it that broadly) tries to be really ethereal or dreamy. There are 2 ways this is typically attempted. The first is with samples that trend away from the influences of jungle and/or take from anime or other "internet" signifiers. The second is an overreliance on melody, though this largely applies to tracks appropriating jungle as a flavor for something else. So it's funny for me listening to some random classic jungle tune, hearing it instantly be better at doing the ethereal/dreamlike sound without straying so far from the roots. Why do people even bother? For those curious, the track is Spiritual Aura - DJ Rap Get Raw Remix.
Something to listen to: McQueen's BeatNever had the short length of Febuary hit until now. Don't think I'll do a month thing like last month, just nothing to talk about. My wrist injury flaired up again due to the cold. There's some progress on other pages of the site, and I have a decent idea for some of the shrine pages. Might just work on those and hope to update in March.
Something to listen to: Say You'll Say SoFirst actual post! Happy to finally have somethin put up even if its basic and boring. Go check it out!
Something to listen to: Sea BirdsSurprised with the amount I'm manging to update the clears section. Also not to jinx myself but I actually have some progress on writing! This was like the number 1 roadblock back when I first was working on this site. It was hard to think of visual themes when I had nothing to put up and then work stalled if I didn't write which was 100% all the time so nothing happened. Still figuring out how to word the about me. I don't actually like the traditional style of "webmaster" or how people use this platform from what I've seen. It still feels too social media for me, but we'll see how this place progresses.
Something to listen to: Medium RareI think a year ago I had the exact same idea I did now, which is to start work on this site again by making a blogpost. Time didn't fly, I was pretty aware of my lack of effort the entire year (trying to write a static site generator was so stupid). It's been a slow couple days and some friends showed me progress on their sites so I thought it was good to try again. I tried to go through and update things and begin work again but just found myself confused. Not only did the webamp plugin break, but I also have no clue what I was trying to do. My friend who's more experienced than me had talked about redoing their entire site plenty of times, and it's something I've seen frequently mentioned by others here so I said why not. I think if I just keep it plain text for the moment and get in the proper infrastructure before doing all the fancy stuff it'll be way better for my motivation. I was way too ambitious earlier. I'm reminded of the time when I was first working on this and I got followed by some site that was like, "site of the week" or something. It had these rules about needing the site to have more than just links to your other shit etc. Turns out, that's all my site ended up being! Felt kinda funny and bad to have that be the case. Unsurpisingly I got unfollowed quickly, hopefully this time I can have more going on. By the time this is visible I'm sure there will already be another blogpost or a week has passed, but that's fine.
